Y-Axis Machining in the 15-Inch Class

The ML-800Y brings Y-axis machining to the heavy end of the linear way lineup: Φ800 mm swing, a 15-inch chuck, 925 mm of machining length, and ±80 mm of Y-axis travel, the widest in our turning range. C-axis and live tooling come standard, so flats, keyways, and cross-holes on large flanges, hubs, and short shafts are machined in the same chucking as the turning, and the 60-degree bed carries the rigidity that off-center cutting at this scale demands.

ML-800Y or Its Siblings?

Longer parts with the same capability? The ML-800MY reaches 1,925 mm and the ML-800LY extends to 2,925 mm. Turning only? The ML-800S keeps the full 1,000 mm envelope. Smaller parts? The ML-600 Y family covers the 8-to-10-inch classes (see: Y-Axis CNC Turning Centers).

Q: What is the maximum machining length of the ML-800Y?

A: 925 mm, with a 15-inch standard chuck, Φ800 mm swing, ±80 mm of Y-axis travel, and C-axis with live tooling as standard.

Q: When should I choose the ML-800Y over the ML-600 Y-axis machines?

A: When part size outgrows the 10-inch class. The 800Y steps up to a 15-inch chuck, Φ600 mm machining diameter, and a gearbox spindle built for large-diameter torque.

Q: What is the difference between the ML-800Y and the ML-800S?

A: The ML-800Y adds Y-axis machining with live tooling as standard, trading 75 mm of machining length (925 versus 1,000 mm) for done-in-one milled features.
