The Mid-Length Step in the Y-Axis Family

The ML-600MY is a medium-bed linear way CNC turning center with Y-axis. It is the middle step of the 600 Y-axis family, and the step changes more than bed length: the chuck moves up to the 10-inch class, the spindle bore widens, and machining length extends to about 760 mm. Parts that outgrow an 8-inch machine in either grip or length land here.

C-axis and live tooling come standard, so keyways, flats, and cross-holes are machined in the same chucking as the turning. The linear way construction keeps traverse and positioning fast for production work with light-to-medium cutting loads.

Key Specifications

  • Swing: Φ600 mm over bed, Φ450 mm over saddle
  • Chuck: 10-inch standard, 12-inch optional
  • Maximum machining length: up to 760 mm with the 10-inch chuck (exact figure depends on turret type)
  • Y-axis travel: ±50 mm, with C-axis and live tooling standard
  • Spindle: 50 to 3,500 rpm (10-inch), Φ86 mm bore, Φ91 or Φ105 mm optional

Full specifications are in the table below.

ML-600MY or Its Siblings?

Within the Y-axis ladder, the ML-600Y covers parts up to about 520 mm on an 8-inch chuck, the ML-600MY reaches about 760 mm on a 10-inch chuck, and the ML-600LY extends to about 1,260 mm for genuinely long work.

Taking heavier or interrupted cuts on tougher material? The BML-600MY is the hand-scraped box way version (see: Box Way vs Linear Way). Need back-end machining too? The ML-600MTY adds a sub-spindle to the medium bed.

Q: What is the maximum machining length of the ML-600MY?

A: Up to 760 mm with the standard 10-inch chuck, depending on turret type (720 mm with BMT65, 760 mm with VDI40). The optional 12-inch chuck reduces this slightly.

Q: When should I choose the ML-600MY over the ML-600Y?

A: When your parts exceed the 600Y's roughly 520 mm envelope, or when they need a 10-inch chuck grip. The ML-600MY covers both with identical Y-axis capability.

Q: Is the ML-600MY just an ML-600Y with a longer bed?

A: No. Alongside the longer bed, the ML-600MY steps up to a 10-inch chuck class with a wider Φ86 mm spindle bore, traded against a 3,500 rpm top speed versus the 600Y's 4,500 rpm. It is sized for larger parts, not only longer ones.
