BML-600LY

Y-Axis Machining on Long Parts

The BML-600LY is a long-bed box way CNC turning center with Y-axis, built for shafts and extended parts that carry features along their length: keyways, flats, cross-holes, and eccentric patterns. Traditionally those features meant re-clamping a long, heavy workpiece on a milling machine, with all the alignment risk that brings. On the BML-600LY, the part stays chucked while turning and milling happen in the same cycle.

The box way is hand-scraped along the full extended bed, so the geometric stability that scraping protects covers the entire travel. For high length-to-diameter parts, the steady rest is configured for your workpiece before the machine ships.

Key Specifications

  • Swing: Φ600 mm over bed, Φ450 mm over saddle
  • Chuck: 10-inch standard, 12-inch optional
  • Maximum machining length: up to 1,210 mm with the 10-inch chuck (exact figure depends on turret type)
  • Y-axis travel: ±50 mm, with C-axis and live tooling standard
  • Spindle: 50 to 3,500 rpm (10-inch), Φ86 mm bore, Φ91 or Φ105 mm optional

Full specifications are in the table below.

BML-600LY or Its Siblings?

Within the Y-axis family, the BML-600LY is the long-bed step: the BML-600Y covers parts up to about 520 mm, the BML-600MY to about 760 mm, and the BML-600LY reaches about 1,210 mm. For parts beyond that, the 800 series carries machining lengths up to 3,000 mm.

Need back-end machining on the same long part? The BML-600LTY adds a sub-spindle to the long bed. Prefer linear guideways for lighter cutting at speed? The ML-600LY is the linear way version.

Q: What is the maximum machining length of the BML-600LY?

A: Up to 1,210 mm with the standard 10-inch chuck, depending on turret type (1,220 mm with BMT65, 1,260 mm with VDI40). The optional 12-inch chuck reduces this slightly.

Q: When should I choose the BML-600LY over the BML-600Y?

A: When your parts exceed the 600Y's roughly 520 mm envelope. The BML-600LY more than doubles the machining length to about 1,260 mm and steps up to a 10-inch chuck, with identical Y-axis capability.

Q: Does the BML-600LY support a steady rest for slender parts?

A: Yes. For high length-to-diameter workpieces, the steady rest arrangement is configured and tested for your part before the machine ships.
